Here’s your first glimpse into the interior of the hellish haunted hotel where you’ll be spending most of MANOS: The Hands of Fate on your iPhone or Android device. Mike must find his family, but he will have to watch out for The Master and Torgo’s tricks and traps! THERE IS NO WAY OUT OF HERE.

MANOS and El Paso
(Yes, we know smartphones don’t have Start Buttons… But ‘Touch to begin’ just doesn’t have the same nostalgic value now, does it…?)‘Froggia’ has been delayed until later to allow more work on MANOS; we’ve added some further enhancements to it based on feedback from AWESOME Land and reaction from around the net to the first MANOS shots.
Row, row row your boat…So what are we improving? Well, the cult movie MANOS: The Hands of Fate, this game’s namesake, was shot around Scenic Drive, El Paso, Texas. It’s a very dry place, beautiful but difficult to make into an exciting video game world, hence our earlier decision to set it in a nondescript desert, but we’ve taken this time to give an El Paso makeover to the outdoor levels as a response to the number of fans of the film who have shown interest in the game. In order to be more ‘faithful’ to the source material we’ve been learning about El Paso and it’s scenery and history. It also gave me an excuse to go through both Kill Bill movies (as if I needed one) and Wild at Heart (David Lynch FTW!!). Tweaks have been made (e.g. the cacti you saw in the first screens have been replaced by yucca and desert foliage) to transform the overworld into an 8-bit representation of the real El Paso.
The haunted Valley Lodge remains a large CastleVania-esque game world as opposed to the little shack the film was shot in. We’ve applied heavy “NES game adaptation logic” to MANOS - a scene of a kissing couple in the movie becomes a recurring hazard/enemy in the game, a closeup on a fireplace becomes a giant snake boss battle, the game revels in the glorious bizarreness of classic licensed videogames… We certainly had fun watching the entire Angry Video Game Nerd back-catalog as ‘research’ for this one.
We’ve also been working on further diversifying the soundtrack, which includes chiptune renditions of the movie’s score….
MANOS will release on iPhone in June, and will follow shortly after for Android devices. Follow us on Tumblr and Twitter now for previews and updates over the coming weeks!

MANOS: The Hands of Fate
Here are the first screenshots from MANOS: The Hands of Fate for iPhone! These shots are from the introduction level (desert), watch this space for screenshots of the interior of the haunted hotel and other levels!
^ MANOS is (probably) the only game where a kissing couple are a hazard…MANOS is an homage to all of the cheesy games you remember from your childhood! Remember how every film and cartoon had it’s own platform game adaptation? How concepts in the film were made completely nonsensical for the case of gameplay? When every man, woman, child, animal and inanimate object were out to kill Marty McFly, Freddie Krueger filled the streets with bats, ghosts and frankenstein monsters and Darth Vader would casually transform into a scorpion? MANOS will take you back to the fantastically absurd movie adaptations of the past!
^ Torgo takes care of the place while The Master is away.The story: Lost on their vacation, Mike and his family have wandered the desert trying to find a place to stay, only to wind up in a strange haunted hotel. Maintained by Torgo, an unusual man/satyr who “takes care of the place while The Master is away”, the hotel is swimming with paranormal activity which Mike has to brave through to find his now missing family. Who is The Master, and what does he want with Mike’s family? Mike, armed with his trusty revolver, will have to wander the haunted halls, venture out into the desert, uncover a dark temple and battle MANOS, the great god of hands, to find out!
^ Mike can defend himself with his trusty revolver.MANOS takes influence from, and pays homage to, video games and pop culture including: CastleVania, Zelda II, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Angry Video Game Nerd, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and many more!
The game’s graphics are all drawn using only the colours and sounds of the NES console, and we have (mostly) stuck within that console’s limits for an authentic retro feel.
MANOS is built on a modified AWESOME Land engine, so expect super-solid controls and authentic retro gameplay!
MANOS will also be coming to Android.

aperfectme asked: OMG! what a frustation guys, I need to tell you something, I like this game, but it has a terrible failure, I will explain you, I was happily playing and I was in the second wold, second alien base I guess, and after some "game overs" I quit the game, but after some minutes I wanted to play again, but then accidentaly instead of preessing "CONTINUE" y pressed "NEW GAME" and then without any advice or prompt, all my progress was lost, please fix this guys!!! Greetings from Berlin

Introducing FROGGIA for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and PC!
What is Froggia? Well, we’re not going to tell you the whole story just yet, but it’s a platform adventure game with beautiful graphics and an intuitive new control scheme involving no virtual buttons at all! No, this is not a runner either, so how does it work, then? You’ll have to stick around to find out.
Froggia is due to be released in May.
